I love Flock. Love Firefox. Love Safari.

But why does Google hate Safari? Using GMail with Safari 3 is just a terrible experience. Google Groups is even worse. You can’t edit Pages at all. I’ve been hoping this would get fixed quickly, but it’s becoming quite painful.

So it’s been about 8 years since Eazel and, as of last night, I am the proud owner of a Linux consumer PC - the eee PC.

I like it! It’s light, cheap (I got the $299 version), kind of cute, and it works.

It’s amazing how long it’s taken for a Linux to make it onto a real consumer device, and surprizing how rough around the edges it still feels, after all these years. Some things I would do differently:

- Industrial design. Overall nice looking but there are a LOT of keys on that…

Wow, that was easily the worst customer experience of the last year. Helio, OK, that sucked. Mozy and Obopay, yeah, somewhat traumatized. But e-Gold gets the prize. David wrote a little post about the experience, but it doesn’t quite capture the hellishness of the thing. It involved two notarized statements and at least 20 phone calls.

Finally took the time to browse a number of reviews on The Funded, the site where entrepreneurs review VCs. Well done. A terrific resource for entrepreneurs evaluating their funding sources. And I don’t think it’s just a gripe site. Sure, there are some shill posts by people covering for their buddies, but there’s a lot of honest positive posts as well as negative ones, and clear trendlines emerge. I had some networking inflation going on on my Flickr contacts list. Basically I promoted a bunch of friends to Family status. Turns out there are in fact some pictures that only family members should see (eg pictures where i look really really dorky!). So now I’m doing an Intervention. Family is Family, Friends are Friends, and there’s nothing wrong with being a Contact!

So if you’re on my contact list, and all of a sudden, you’re seeing a lot less pictures, pls don’t take it personal. And…

Walked in to Starbucks and they’re doing a campaign donating coffee to soldiers in Iraq. I was going to donate a pound of coffee, but was stumped when they asked me what kind - I don’t drink coffee.

So instead I donated to the Fisher House, which supports the families of wounded soldiers, and MoveOn.org’s PAC, which is trying to help end this madness.

Let me know if there are other organizations that you like that are supporting troops, esp families of soldiers wounded or killed in…

That didn’t last long. A friend gave me a White Rabbit a few months ago, which is a free invite token to get an Ooma box free of charge. I was excited about finally getting rid of the phone company. Not so fast: during the beta period, Ooma required you to hold on to your landline, so the value proposition was that you got a free second line, not that you needed one. So basically I ended up with a bunch of extra cables and an extra box for no extra useful functionality. Oh, and that weird…
